The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to face the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, aiming to extend their four-game winning streak before heading into their bye week.

Both teams will be missing key players due to injuries. The Chiefs will play without offensive tackle Josh Simmons and running back Isiah Pacheco. Offensive guard Trey Smith and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore are listed as questionable. For the Bills, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and wide receiver Joshua Palmer are out, while starting defensive tackle Ed Oliver was placed on Injured Reserve with a bicep injury. Cornerback Taron Johnson is questionable due to a groin injury. However, linebackers Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard are expected to return for Buffalo, though Shaq Thompson remains sidelined.

Buffalo currently leads the NFL in rushing yards despite having played one fewer game than most teams. They average 164.4 rushing yards per game, led by James Cook, who has 753 rushing yards this season and recently rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns in a single game. Cook averages six yards per carry and leads the league in yards before contact.

The Chiefs have been effective at stopping opposing running backs; no player has reached 100 rushing yards against them this year. In recent games, Kansas City limited Raiders' Ashton Jeanty and Commanders' Jacory Crosky-Merritt to just 46 combined rushing yards.

Kansas City's offense has scored at least 28 points in five consecutive games—the longest such streak by any team this season—and outscored opponents by a total of 154-75 during that period. Since Week 4, they lead the league in several categories including plays per drive (7.0), time of possession per drive (3:30), fewest three-and-outs (11), total yards per game (415.8), and first downs per game (26.4). Quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL with 21 total touchdowns this season and is tied for passing touchdowns with Matthew Stafford.

Mahomes also leads all quarterbacks with an average time to throw of 2.61 seconds and has accumulated a league-high 470 scramble yards in 2025.

Kansas City's offense features eight players with more than 250 scrimmage yards each—more than any other team—and continues to distribute the ball among multiple contributors rather than relying on individual performances.

On Buffalo's side, their offense emphasizes both running plays and short passes. Leading receiver Khalil Shakir has gained most of his yardage after catches—298 out of his total 356 receiving yards—which is second only to Ja'Marr Chase across the league for percentage gained after catch.

However, quarterback Josh Allen has struggled with deep passes this year; he holds the lowest passer rating on throws over 20 air yards at just 29.4 percent completion rate without any touchdowns on those attempts so far.

Last season, Buffalo excelled at forcing turnovers but their margin is less pronounced this year (+2 compared to +11 at this point last season). In their two losses—against New England and Atlanta—they committed five turnovers while forcing only one takeaway themselves; meanwhile in wins they forced seven takeaways against just one giveaway.

The outcome of Sunday's matchup may hinge on which team can control turnovers as both look for another important win.
