Today, Governor Mike Kehoe announced six appointments to fill a county office vacancy and positions on various boards and commissions.
Jami Adams of Springfield was appointed to the Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board. Adams has a background in school counseling and student advocacy. She currently manages Evolution Fitness in Ozark and previously worked for Monett Public Schools as well as serving as director of school counseling for the Greenfield School District. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a Master of Science in School Counseling from Evangel University in Springfield.
Dr. Dawn Heizman of Kansas City was named to the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts. Dr. Heizman is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and serves as department chair at NKC Health. She participates in several committees at NKC Health and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Heizman completed a six-year program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, earning both bachelor's and medical degrees.
Dr. Rolfe McCoy of Chillicothe was appointed to the Missouri Dental Board. Dr. McCoy is a partner at McCoy Samples Mattingly Dental Clinic, chairs the Missouri Dental Association's Expanded Function Dental Assistant program, and teaches for the Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Dental Health pilot program in long-term care facilities. He is involved with local organizations such as the Chillicothe Arts Council, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Public Works, and Rotary Club. McCoy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Doctor of Dental Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis.
James Morris of Jasper was selected as Jasper County Easter District Commissioner. Morris works as bookkeeper for Jim Morris Roofing and Remodeling, owns Light of Faith Resources, and has been an independent contractor for Classical Conversations – Joplin South. He serves on the Jasper County Republican Central Committee, volunteers with Carthage Area Christian Athletes, and leads a youth group at Prairie Flower Bible Church. Morris received his diploma in crisis response from International ALERT Academy.
Jason Pounds from Houston will serve on the Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission. Pounds teaches English at Houston R-1 School District with experience teaching American history, government, World War II, Holocaust studies, early American history, and modern American history. He holds social science and English teaching certificates along with degrees from Columbia College (history), University of Nebraska-Kearney (history), and Gratz College (holocaust and genocide studies).
Reuben Shelton from Chesterfield joins the Harris-Stowe State University Board of Regents. Shelton previously served as lead litigation counsel for Monsanto Company until 2016, held roles with the Missouri Attorney General's Office, United Way of Greater St. Louis, Children's Hospital Development Board, Lincoln University Board of Curators, and presided over the Missouri Bar Association. He earned an MBA from Washington University and a Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law.
