The Kansas City Chiefs held their 16th training camp practice on Tuesday morning as they continued preparations for the upcoming NFL season. The session took place in St. Joseph and marked the team's ninth padded practice of camp, lasting two hours and 25 minutes.

Tuesday's activities included multiple 11-on-11 periods, a 7-on-7 segment, and several 1-on-1 drills. According to team reports, the defense stood out during an 11-on-11 red zone period, securing most of the snaps. Offensively, wide receiver Hal Presley made multiple catches during the 7-on-7 portion.

Before practice began, the Chiefs signed running back Michael Wiley to fill a roster spot after placing two players on Injured Reserve earlier in the week. Wiley previously spent time on the Washington Commanders' practice squad and played college football at the University of Arizona from 2019 to 2023. He accumulated over 1,700 rushing yards and scored 16 touchdowns in his college career while also catching more than 120 passes for over 1,100 yards.

Dane Brugler's draft guide describes Wiley as follows: "…His short-area burst and vision are translatable traits, and his receiving instincts can be what separates him on an NFL depth chart. He will provide third-down value in the right situation."

Linebacker Nick Bolton made a notable play during one of the day's drills by intercepting a pass off a deflection in an 11-on-11 period. He later added a pass breakup along the sideline. Rookie cornerbacks Jacobe Covington and Kevin Knowles combined to force another pass breakup during team drills.

The team also completed its traditional "long drive drill," which challenges both offensive and defensive first-team units with a series of uninterrupted plays meant to mimic game conditions. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy made an impressive catch while falling backward on one snap, while veteran tight end Robert Tonyan caught a quick pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes over the middle.

The injury report for Tuesday listed wide receiver Hollywood Brown (ankle), tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring), cornerback Jaylen Watson (concussion protocol), and offensive tackle Ethan Driskell (recovering from an appendectomy) as absent due to injuries.

The Chiefs are scheduled to hold their final training camp practice on Wednesday.
