The Kansas City Chiefs have begun transporting over 24,000 pounds of equipment to St. Joseph for their training camp at Missouri Western State University. This operation requires moving the team's entire setup, including items like cleats, helmets, and even office supplies.
Holt McKenney, part of the Chiefs' equipment staff, explained the scale of the task: "We're taking everything. That means stuff like cleats, helmets and shoulder pads, but also everything from office chairs to razors and body wash. It's the whole works." The preparation for this move has been ongoing since the offseason and intensified after minicamp in June.
The equipment team is led by Allen Wright, who has been with the organization for over 40 years. McKenney praised Wright's leadership: "It's been awesome [learning from Wright]. He's a household name – not just in the equipment world, but in Chiefs Kingdom."
This year marks the 15th time since 2010 that the Chiefs' equipment staff is managing this significant logistical effort to St. Joseph. The first practice open to the public will be on July 23.
