Jackson County has established a new Senior Property Tax Credit Program following the passage of Missouri Senate Bill 190 (SB190) in 2023. The program aims to provide much-needed tax relief for senior citizens in the county.

According to the program details, eligible individuals are those who are Social Security retirement eligible. They will receive a credit that essentially freezes their property taxes on their primary residence. Importantly, taxpayers do not need to be currently drawing Social Security benefits to qualify, but they must be eligible for Social Security retirement benefits.

The deadline for the initial application for this year's program is December 31, 2024. To access more information and apply for the program, interested individuals are encouraged to visit the program page as stated: "Go to the program page for more details and to apply."

This initiative is expected to bring significant relief to eligible senior citizens in Jackson County, helping them manage their property tax obligations effectively.
