While colorectal cancer rates among older adults have decreased in the United States over the past few decades, there has been a worrying trend among younger individuals. According to the American Cancer Society, diagnoses and deaths from colorectal cancer are rising among those under 50.

In light of Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, insights about this issue are brought forward by Dr. Sabrina Kidd, a colon and rectal surgeon at Saint Luke’s Surgical Specialists. Dr. Kidd provides valuable information on the importance of colon cancer screenings, available treatments, and explores potential factors leading to the increase in instances among younger adults.

Dr. Kidd stresses the importance of awareness and proactive health measures, especially in this alarming demographic shift.
