Cost of college went up for resident students at Kansas City Kansas Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.6 percent for 2018-19 at Kansas City Kansas Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kansas residents paid $3,300 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $52 more than the $3,248 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 97.3 percent more than residents this year, or $6,510. Their price tag was reduced 19.1 percent from $8,048 in 2017-18.

About 84 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kansas residents. And about 16 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 73 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 383 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2 million and 133 students took out student loans totaling more than $636,783.

Including all undergraduates (5,885), 2,787 students used grants or scholarships totaling $15 million, and 800 students took out $3.9 million in federal student loans.
