The Kansas City Chiefs achieved a 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, moving their season record to 4-3. The shutout marked the team's first regular-season game without allowing points since 2011, which also came against the Raiders. It was only the second time under Head Coach Andy Reid that the Chiefs have prevented an opponent from scoring, with the previous instance occurring in a 2015 postseason matchup against Houston.

Kansas City's defense limited Las Vegas to just three first downs for the entire game, matching a rare feat last seen in 2008 and marking only the fifth occurrence since 2000 where a team has managed three or fewer first downs in a regular-season contest. The Raiders ran only 30 offensive plays, which is the second-lowest total by any team during the Super Bowl Era.

The Chiefs outgained their opponent by 339 yards, holding Las Vegas to just 95 offensive yards. This performance was one of only five defensive displays in the past three seasons where a team allowed fewer than 100 yards from scrimmage. After briefly crossing into Kansas City territory on their opening drive, Las Vegas did not return to that side of the field for its remaining nine possessions.

"Through Week 7, the Chiefs now own the No. 3 scoring defense in the NFL at 17.7 points allowed-per-game."

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led his team by completing 26 of his 35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns. He continues to lead all NFL players in total offensive touchdowns with 18 through seven weeks. Since Week 4, Mahomes ranks second in passing yards (1,131) and third in passing touchdowns (11). He has thrown for at least 270 yards and three touchdowns in three of his last four games.

Mahomes distributed passes to nine different receivers during Sunday's win—the second time this season he has reached that mark. Eight players recorded at least 14 receiving yards each.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice returned from injury to make his season debut, catching seven passes for a team-high of 42 yards and two touchdowns on ten targets—double that of any other player on Sunday. Last year before his injury, Rice led all NFL players in receptions and was second in receiving yards through Week 3.

The Chiefs began Sunday's game with four consecutive touchdown drives covering distances of between 65 and 94 yards each. They were successful on eight out of nine third-down attempts early in the contest and accumulated a total of 434 offensive yards—their second-highest output this season.

Mahomes reached another milestone with his win: "Mahomes won his 93rd career regular-season game on Sunday, passing Peyton Manning for the most quarterback wins by a player at age 30 or younger in NFL history." His career record now stands at 93-26 during regular-season play.

Kansas City is currently alone among NFL teams with four straight games scoring at least 28 points; they have surpassed thirty points in three of those contests. Over this period since Week 4, they are leading all teams with an average of more than four hundred eleven offensive yards per game.

After starting their season with two losses, Kansas City has now won four out of its last five games—a turnaround reminiscent of their slow start and subsequent recovery during the 2021 season. With this win over Las Vegas giving them their first winning record this year at four wins and three losses, they look ahead to facing Washington next week aiming for a third consecutive victory.
