The Kansas City Chiefs have introduced a new content series called "Secret Chiefs," which combines football and local tailgate food culture. The series is produced in partnership with YumCrunch, an entertainment studio that has won Emmy awards.
In the show, celebrity superfans and former Chiefs players go undercover at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to try food from different tailgate chefs and interact with fans before games. Each episode features three tailgate chefs, with one being named the "Best Bite" winner. The identity of the Secret Chief is revealed live in the stadium before kickoff.
Filming for the first three episodes will occur during home games on October 12, 19, and 27. The episodes will be released on the Chiefs’ official YouTube channel and social media platforms on the Friday after each game.
Fans have an opportunity to participate by nominating their own tailgates for a chance to be featured in an episode and meet the guest judges. Nominations can be submitted through chiefs.com/fans/secretchiefs by explaining why their tailgate should be chosen.
"Secret Chiefs is another step in how we're expanding our connection with fans – tapping into the shared passions that make up Chiefs Kingdom," said Lara Krug, Chiefs EVP and Chief Media and Marketing Officer. "It's a fresh opportunity to show up for our fans and invite even more people into the experience, blending football, food, community, and culture in a way only the Chiefs can."
With this initiative, the organization aims to reach new audiences while providing current fans with unique content focused on fan engagement and cultural experiences.
