Sporting Kansas City II midfielder Johann Ortiz has been selected for the El Salvador U-20 national team ahead of the Pre-Olympic Central American Games. Ortiz will participate in a two-week training camp in El Salvador before traveling to Guatemala, where the games are set to take place.

The El Salvador U-20 team is scheduled to play against Guatemala on Tuesday, October 21 at 5 p.m. CT and Nicaragua on Thursday, October 23 at 5 p.m. CT.

Ortiz began his career with Sporting Kansas City Academy in 2018, progressing through all youth levels from U-12 to U-19. He contributed to the U-19 team's UPSL Oklahoma-Arkansas regular season title in 2023 and took part in three MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs during his time with the academy.

After making 11 amateur appearances in 2024, Ortiz signed his first professional contract with Sporting KC II in March 2025. In his debut season, he scored two goals and provided three assists, leading SKC II in assists for the year. During the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, Ortiz started in 12 of his 26 appearances and led the team with four assists while playing over 1,000 minutes.

This call-up marks Ortiz’s first opportunity to represent El Salvador internationally.
