The Kansas City Chiefs improved their standing in several national NFL power rankings after a strong win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The victory brought the Chiefs to an even record for the season, and multiple sports outlets have taken note of their recent performance.
FOX Sports placed the Chiefs at No. 4 in its latest power rankings, behind only the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions. Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports commented: "Patrick Mahomes threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns against the Ravens. Xavier Worthy is back. Rashee Rice is on the way. Dismiss Kansas City at your own risk."
Sports Illustrated also moved Kansas City up eight spots to No. 4 overall following last week's game. Conor Orr of SI wrote: "Patrick Mahomes is now throwing at about a 2.5 second per dropback clip. That's almost 0.03 seconds faster than he was averaging in 2020. The evolution of Mahomes into a quick-game artist is underscored by the fact that he can still throw the deep ball better than any quarterback in the NFL. The Chiefs look fully recovered and before offensive reinforcements even arrive."
Other outlets ranked Kansas City as follows: ESPN at No. 7, Yahoo! Sports at No. 7, Bleacher Report at No. 7, Pro Football Talk at No. 8, The Sporting News at No. 8, USA Today at No. 8, and NFL.com at No. 9.
The improvement in rankings reflects analysts' recognition of both Patrick Mahomes' evolving play style and the team's resilience after a challenging start to their season.
