Sporting Kansas City will play at home against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night at Children’s Mercy Park. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. CT and can be streamed on MLS Season Pass. Local radio coverage will be provided by Sports Radio 810 WHB, and tickets are available through SeatGeek.com.

The team recently ended a difficult part of its schedule with a 5-2 loss to the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. Over the last four matches, three were played away from home against top teams in the league. Sporting Kansas City now prepares for two consecutive home games, first against the Colorado Rapids and then Austin FC over the next two weekends.

During this stretch, Sporting has faced nine straight opponents currently above the playoff line. The upcoming matches bring seventh-place Colorado and ninth-place Austin to Kansas City. Despite recent efforts, Sporting remains 11 points behind the final playoff spot with seven games left in the season.

Saturday’s game offers Sporting an opportunity to complete a season sweep over Colorado. Earlier this year, Sporting won 2-1 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on July 4, 2025. Erik Thommy assisted Dejan Joveljic for an early lead before scoring himself after halftime, with John Pulskamp providing the assist. Rafael Navarro scored late for Colorado but Sporting secured their first win in Colorado since March 29, 2014.

In their most recent home meeting with Colorado on September 18, 2024, Sporting earned a 4-1 victory at Children’s Mercy Park. Alan Pulido scored twice while Thommy added two goals off the bench.

Sporting leads the all-time series against Colorado with a record of 31 wins, 27 losses, and 19 draws; at home they have a strong record of 24-7-6.

Forward Mason Toye continued his form by scoring his second goal of the season during last weekend’s loss in Seattle. It was his second start for Sporting and he has now contributed either a goal or assist in both starts for the club.

"Tim Leibold slides it across the box to assist Mason Toye," according to FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) on August 25, 2025.

Defender Tim Leibold recorded his second assist of the season during that match as well. He now has eight assists in his MLS regular season career since joining Sporting ahead of the 2023 campaign.

"Beautiful soccer from @SportingKC

Mason Toye equalizes it in Seattle on FS1 and Apple TV+," Major League Soccer (@MLS) posted on August 25, 2025.

Midfielder Zorhan Bassong was called up to represent Canada for friendlies in Europe during September’s FIFA international window after registering his third assist of the season against Seattle. He previously appeared for Canada during this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup and has started in most of his appearances for Sporting this year.

"Canada is calling

Zorhan Bassong will join @CANMNT_Official in September for friendlies in Europe."
