The Kansas City Chiefs have announced several roster changes ahead of the 2025 NFL season. The team placed three players—tight end Jake Briningstool (Clemson), linebacker Brandon George (Pittsburgh), and cornerback Nazeeh Johnson (Marshall)—on the Reserve/Injured list.
Additionally, offensive tackle Ethan Driskell (Marshall) was moved to the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
A total of 27 players were waived from the roster, including wide receiver Elijhah Badger (Florida), defensive end Owen Carney (Illinois), cornerback Ajani Carter (Houston), tackle Dalton Cooper (Oklahoma State), safety Jacobe Covington (Southern California), wide receiver Mac Dalena (Fresno State), tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick, guard C.J. Hanson (Holy Cross), cornerback Azizi Hearn (UCLA), wide receiver Jimmy Holiday (Louisiana Tech), defensive tackle Coziah Izzard (Penn State), linebacker Cam Jones (Indiana), cornerback Kevin Knowles (Florida State), center Joey Lombard (South Dakota), defensive tackle Fabien Lovett (Florida State), defensive end Nate Matlack (Pittsburgh), safety Glendon Miller (Maryland), linebacker Xander Mueller (Northwestern), quarterback Chris Oladokun (South Dakota State), tackle Esa Pole (Washington State), wide receiver Hal Presley (Baylor), wide receiver Key'Shawn Smith (Southern Methodist University), cornerback Melvin Smith (Southern Arkansas), tight end Geor'Quarius Spivey (Mississippi State), running back Carson Steele (UCLA), tight end Tre Watson (Texas A&M), running back Michael Wiley (Arizona) and safety Major Williams (Carson-Newman). Quarterback Bailey Zappe, formerly of Western Kentucky, was also among those waived.
The Chiefs also released five players: linebacker Cole Christiansen (Army); safety Mike Edwards and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu, both from Southern California; nose tackle Mike Pennel Jr. from Colorado State-Pueblo; and tight end Robert Tonyan from Indiana State.
