The Kansas City Chiefs held their final training camp practice on Wednesday morning, concluding preparations ahead of the upcoming NFL season. The session marked the 17th practice for the three-time defending AFC champions.

Wednesday's event was designated as Military Appreciation Day, a tradition for the team at the close of camp. More than 125 representatives from branches including the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) attended. They watched practice from a VIP area and met with players and coaches afterward.

"It's great to have the military out here today," said Head Coach Andy Reid. "[We're thankful] for all they do for us so we can do what [we] do."

The Chiefs opted for a lighter "10-10-10" format during Wednesday’s session in St. Joseph. This non-padded circuit includes ten offensive plays, ten defensive plays, and ten special teams plays per cycle. The structure is intended to allow each unit to experience success by pitting first-team squads against reserves during various periods.

Defensive players made several notable contributions despite the skewed format favoring one side of play in each segment. Linebacker Jack Cochrane intercepted a pass during an early defensive period. Rookie linebacker Cooper McDonald also recorded an interception later in practice. Cornerback Jaylen Watson had both an interception and a pass breakup down the sideline; cornerback Nazeeh Johnson intercepted a pass in the red zone.

Looking ahead to Friday's preseason game against Seattle, Coach Reid indicated that some starting players may see limited or no action. "There's a chance I sit a couple of the starters, or at least be short with them," Reid said. "We want to make sure we get a good look at these young guys."

Several players were sidelined due to injuries on Wednesday: tailback Kareem Hunt (quad contusion), wide receiver Hollywood Brown (ankle), tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring), and offensive tackle Ethan Driskell (recovering from an appendectomy).

The Chiefs now prepare to travel to Seattle for their next preseason matchup against the Seahawks on Friday night.
