ESPN has released its annual positional rankings, highlighting the Kansas City Chiefs with seven players making the list. The rankings were determined by a panel of league executives, coaches, and scouts.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was ranked No. 1, noted for leading the NFL in passing categories since becoming a starter in 2018. "No quarterback was more efficient on third down than Mahomes last season," ESPN stated.

Creed Humphrey topped the interior offensive line category. "Humphrey's 96.2 pass block win rate last season ranks sixth among all interior offensive linemen," ESPN commented.

Trey Smith, also from the interior offensive line, was ranked fourth due to his high run block win rate. An NFL coordinator remarked on Smith's "elite hands" and blocking skills.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones secured the No. 2 spot with unmatched size and versatility, resulting in 40 sacks over four years. "He's next to impossible to block one-on-one," said an NFC scout.

Trent McDuffie emerged as a versatile cornerback, ranking fourth after transitioning to play outside in 2024.

Linebacker Nick Bolton also placed fourth with career-best statistics in sacks and pass deflections during the 2024 season.

Tight end Travis Kelce was fifth on his list, maintaining strong performance in red zone situations despite changes over time. An NFC executive praised Kelce: "He's still awesome."

Additionally, George Karlaftis received an honorable mention among edge rushers.
