Sporting Kansas City faced New York City FC in a match where adjustments were made but ultimately ended without the desired victory. Interim head coach Kerry Zavagnin discussed the tactical changes made during the game, including bringing Jacob Bartlett into the backline and adjusting to a 4-4-2 formation with Santiago Munoz and Dejan Joveljic together. "I think getting players in the middle of the field and near the goal is something that we were lacking," Zavagnin noted.

Despite these efforts, Sporting KC was unable to find a go-ahead goal. During a water break, they aimed to create pressure through small adjustments but fell short in execution. "With Mason Toye on the field, I think he had the opportunity... unfortunately we weren't able to do it," said Zavagnin.

Nemanja Radoja's return was highlighted as a positive step for Sporting KC's evolving team structure. Zavagnin emphasized Radoja's experience and ability as key components moving forward.

The team has struggled with consistency, having used 24 different starting lineups in 25 games this season. Despite challenges, Zavagnin praised his team's character: "The effort is outstanding and I have to applaud them for that."

Facing NYCFC, Sporting KC acknowledged their opponent's strength while also recognizing their own areas of improvement. The goal conceded revealed vulnerabilities that need addressing.

John Pulskamp’s performance was lauded by Zavagnin for his reliability and development as a goalkeeper: "He can come up big in big moments."

Regarding future team identity and transfers, Zavagnin expressed confidence in focusing on current players while being open to improvements: "We're always looking for better... just like every other club."

Forward Daniel Salloi reflected on his goal amid chaotic play and recognized room for improvement despite giving their best effort against NYCFC. As playoff contention looms, Salloi stressed the importance of winning upcoming matches.

Salloi also commented on teammates Santiago Munoz and Jake Davis’ impact during games: "They did good... you need to count on the subs."

Celebrating his birthday with a goal at home was special for Salloi: “This club is everything for me.”
