A Hollister, Missouri man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for sharing child pornography online. Cameron Allen Ryan, 36, received his sentence from U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool and will also serve 10 years of supervised release following his incarceration. Additionally, Ryan is ordered to pay $51,000 in restitution to his victims and a $5,000 special assessment under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.
Upon release from prison, Ryan must register as a sex offender and comply with federal and state registration requirements for life. Ryan pleaded guilty on December 17, 2024, to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
The case began when law enforcement was alerted by a CyberTip made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. An undercover FBI agent downloaded numerous images of minors posted by a suspect user profile on November 28, 2023. The agent communicated with the suspect via email and received a video depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a minor.
Ryan was identified as the suspect user by the FBI. A search of his cell phones revealed one device logged into the email account used to communicate with the undercover agent. Forensic analysis found over 1,800 files containing child pornography on two phones.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Wan prosecuted this case which involved investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, Springfield Police Department, and Taney County Sheriff’s Office.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide.
