Today, Governor Mike Kehoe and Republican legislative leaders held a press conference at the Missouri State Capitol to discuss achievements made by the General Assembly in the early weeks of the legislative session.

Governor Kehoe expressed his desire for collaboration with legislators, stating, "I told the members of the legislature during my first State of the State Address that I want to work with them—not against them—because I believe we can only secure Missouri’s future if we work together." He praised Missouri Republicans for their unity and efforts in passing significant legislation.

One notable accomplishment highlighted was the passage of Representative Christ's House Bill 495. This bill aims to enhance public safety by providing law enforcement with tools to combat crime and illegal immigration. It also establishes a citizen board to oversee the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Senator Cindy O'Laughlin, Missouri Senate President Pro Tem, commented on the Senate's objectives: "From day one, the Missouri Senate Republican Caucus has been united in our mission to pass conservative, common-sense policies that make Missouri stronger." She acknowledged the progress made so far and emphasized continued efforts under Governor Kehoe's leadership.

The press conference featured remarks from Senator O'Laughlin, Senator Luetkemeyer, and Speaker Patterson on actions taken by both chambers. Many initiatives received bipartisan support. Speaker Jon Patterson noted over 50 bills passed by the House addressing various issues such as public safety, child protection, school choice expansion, tax relief measures, and government transparency improvements.

Speaker Patterson reiterated commitment to collaborative efforts: “At the start of session, House Republicans committed to working together to make life safer, better, and more affordable for Missouri families.” He assured continued cooperation with Governor Kehoe and Senate colleagues for statewide benefits.
