Governor Mike Kehoe has directed the Missouri State Capitol dome to be illuminated in purple on March 11, 2025, in recognition of Missouri Alzheimer's Awareness Day. This initiative aims to increase awareness of Alzheimer's disease and its impact.

The Missouri legislature has designated the second Tuesday in March as Alzheimer's Awareness Day. Governor Kehoe issued a proclamation declaring March 11, 2025, as Alzheimer’s Awareness Day in Missouri. The proclamation emphasizes the need for ongoing research, education, and support for those affected by the disease.

“Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease that affects far too many Missouri families,” Governor Kehoe stated. “By lighting the Missouri State Capitol dome purple, we stand with those facing this disease, honor the families and caregivers who support them, and advocate for critical research to find a cure.”

The dome will be lit purple from sunset tomorrow until sunrise. Purple is associated with the Alzheimer’s Association and symbolizes awareness and advocacy. It represents the courage and resilience of individuals battling Alzheimer’s and their supporters.

Photos of the illuminated Capitol will be available on Governor Kehoe's Flickr Page.
