Governor Mike Kehoe has signed Executive Order 25-17 in anticipation of hazardous winter weather forecasted to affect Missouri starting February 11. The order waives certain hours of service requirements for commercial vehicles transporting residential heating fuel and activates the Missouri National Guard for potential state and local response efforts.

"With hazardous winter weather forecasted for this week across much of the state, we want to be as prepared as possible," Governor Kehoe stated. "We ask that all Missourians be proactive, stay aware, and use extreme caution during these potentially dangerous winter weather events. This Order helps ensure homes in Missouri can stay warm and that state government and our National Guard members stand ready to assist."

The executive order suspends hours of service regulations for motor carriers transporting residential heating fuels such as propane, natural gas, and heating oil. It also authorizes the Adjutant General of Missouri to activate parts of the organized militia deemed necessary to support residents.

The National Weather Service predicts a significant winter storm will hit the state overnight Tuesday into Wednesday after light snow across the Ozarks on Monday night. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected to cause widespread travel disruptions. Northern Missouri may see at least four inches of snow north of the I-44 corridor, while a wintry mix is anticipated along and south of it.

Motorists are advised to delay travel if possible or exercise extreme caution if travel is necessary. Checking road conditions beforehand is recommended using the Missouri Department of Transportation's Traveler Information Map app available on desktop and mobile devices.

Executive Order 25-17 is set to expire on March 10, 2025.
