A Kansas City, Missouri man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in two separate cases involving drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession. Another individual from Kansas City, Kansas is also implicated in one of these cases.
Daroy L. Thomas, 25, faces charges outlined in a four-count indictment returned under seal on November 6, 2024. In another case, Thomas and Shannon J. Price, 29, were charged in a two-count indictment on the same date. Both indictments were unsealed following their arrests.
The first indictment accuses Thomas of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing firearms related to drug trafficking crimes, and being a felon in possession of firearms. The alleged conspiracy spanned from December 20, 2022 to April 14, 2023. On the latter date, Thomas was reportedly found with methamphetamine intended for distribution and several firearms including two Glock pistols and a Draco semi-automatic pistol.
Federal law prohibits individuals convicted of felonies from possessing firearms or ammunition. Thomas has previous felony convictions for robbery and armed robbery.
In the second indictment involving both Thomas and Price, each is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm after allegedly having Glock pistols on July 28, 2023. Price's criminal history includes convictions for tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
It is important to note that these charges are accusations requiring evidence presentation at trial where guilt or innocence will be determined by a jury.
These cases are prosecuted by Department of Justice Trial Attorney Sarah J. Rasalam alongside Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan A. Baker following investigations conducted by the FBI.
