A Rockaway Beach, Missouri man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for receiving child pornography. Roy Dean Faux, 51, faces charges in Springfield, Missouri. Faux has two prior state felony convictions for attempting to entice a child under the age of 15. If convicted on the current charge, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole.
The indictment alleges that Faux received child pornography between July 1, 2023, and May 7, 2024. It also includes a forfeiture allegation requiring him to surrender two cell phones and a computer tablet used in the offense.
"The charge contained in this indictment is simply an accusation," states the press release. "Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence."
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller is prosecuting the case following investigations by Homeland Security Investigations, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, and the Taney County Sheriff's Office.
This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program involves federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
