A Mexican national has admitted in federal court to reentering the United States after being deported. Ibrahim Orozzo-Ramirez, 30, pleaded guilty to a charge of illegal reentry following a previous deportation that was ordered after his 2019 conviction for stealing a motor vehicle in Jackson County, Missouri.
According to court documents, Orozzo-Ramirez was deported on July 17, 2019, from the United States to Mexico through Brownsville, Texas. He did not obtain permission from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security before returning. Orozzo-Ramirez was arrested by Department of Homeland Security special agents on February 1, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Orozzo-Ramirez had been removed from the United States twice before: once on November 17, 2017 via Brownsville and again on November 2, 2018 via El Paso after a federal conviction for improper entry by an alien in the District of New Mexico.
He now faces up to 20 years in federal prison without parole and up to three years of supervised release following any sentence. The actual sentence will be determined by the court based on advisory guidelines and other statutory factors. Sentencing is set for January 6, 2026, pending completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
"This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick D. Daly. It was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Enforcement and Removal Operations (“ERO”) and Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”)."
The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative involving resources from several Justice Department programs aimed at combating illegal immigration and related criminal activity.
