Kansas City is calling for artists to submit their proposals for a unique opportunity to contribute to the historical significance of City Hall. According to the announcement, preference will be given to artists based in the Kansas City area. The chosen artist will be awarded a budget of $140,000 to cover all aspects of design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and lighting of the artwork. Interested artists have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, to submit their applications.
For those seeking further information or clarification regarding the project, Public Art Administrator James Martin is available to address any inquiries. Additionally, a virtual Q & A session will be conducted on Monday, March 25, 2024, and Tuesday, March 26, 2024, via Microsoft Teams.
The initiative is funded by the City’s One Percent for Art program, which dedicates one percent of construction project costs from public buildings to acquire public art. This program aims to enrich the cultural and aesthetic landscape of Kansas City, Missouri.
