Sporting Kansas City II has signed defender Hal Uderitz to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract. The announcement comes ahead of the team's upcoming match against Colorado Rapids 2.

Uderitz, who is 25 years old, played college soccer at Seattle University and was selected in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by the Seattle Sounders. He brings experience from his time with both Tacoma Defiance and Rapids 2, having made 27 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro. He will now join his brother, Beckham Uderitz, for the remainder of Sporting KC II's season.

The current roster for Sporting KC II includes Jacob Molinaro as goalkeeper; defenders Nati Clarke, Pierre Lurot, Anthony Samways, and Hal Uderitz; midfielders Bryan Arellano, Shane Donovan, Blaine Mabie, Johann Ortiz, Gael Quintero, Cielo Tschantret, and Beckham Uderitz; and forwards Medgy Alexandre, Maouloune Goumballe, and David Zavala.

Hal Uderitz is the son of Scott Uderitz, a former midfielder for the Kansas City Wizards. During his collegiate career from 2018 to 2022 with the Seattle University Redhawks, he made 71 appearances with 13 goals and nine assists. He earned honors such as being named to the WAC All-Freshman team in 2018 and inclusion on the WAC All-Tournament Team and All-Far West Region Second Team in 2021. In his professional career so far as a centerback in MLS NEXT Pro competition, he has started in most of his games and contributed four goals along with one assist.

In addition to his playing background at other clubs—including captaining Tacoma Defiance during a match against SKC II—Uderitz’s signing adds depth to Sporting KC II’s defensive lineup as they approach their next fixture.

Led by head coach Ike Opara, Sporting KC II will face Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday at Children's Mercy Victory Field. The match is scheduled for noon Central Time and will be available via streaming on MLSNEXTPro.com. Tickets are currently available through SeatGeek.com.
