Update on Clergy Assignments in St. Joseph and Kansas City

In the latest clergy assignment updates released by Bishop Johnston, several changes have been made to the priests' responsibilities in St. Joseph and Kansas City.

According to the announcement, Fr. Stephen Hansen concluded his assignment as Interim President of St. Joseph Academy but will retain his assignments at St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Mary, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parishes in St. Joseph.

Fr. Benjamin Armentrout has been assigned to offer the 1962 Roman Missal Mass on Sundays at St. James Parish in St. Joseph starting January 1, 2024. He will also provide additional services at other parishes if needed, while retaining his current assignment at Bishop LeBlond High School.

Fr. Benjamin Fenlon has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph Cathedral and St. Mary Parish in St. Joseph, with additional responsibilities at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Joseph, effective January 16, 2024.

Fr. Ramiro Sanchez Chan, c.s. concluded his assignment as parochial administrator at Holy Rosary Parish, Kansas City on February 1, 2024, followed by Fr. Van Sau Nguyen, c.s. being assigned as the new parochial administrator at the same parish on February 2, 2024.

On March 31, 2024, Fr. Stephen Hansen concluded his assignment as parochial administrator at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Joseph, while maintaining his current assignments at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Mary Parish in St. Joseph, and the Catholic Medical Association of St. Joseph.

Lastly, starting April 1, 2024, Fr. Christian Malewski will resume residence and duties as pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Joseph.

The announcement concluded by urging the community to keep these priests in their prayers as they transition into their new assignments.
