Sporting Kansas City II ended their 2025 season with a 3-1 loss to MNUFC 2 on Sunday at National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota. The match was part of Decision Day, marking the conclusion of the regular MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
Anthony Samways scored his second goal of the season for Sporting KC II, assisted by Carter Derksen, who recorded his first professional assist. Interim head coach Ike Opara started Jacob Molinaro in goal for his 13th appearance this year. Nati Clarke captained the side and played alongside Pierre Lurot and Hal Uderitz in defense.
Minnesota took control early in the match, with Kieran Chandler opening the scoring after 20 minutes from a Logan Dorsey pass. Dorsey added a second goal for MNUFC 2 seven minutes later with a penalty kick.
Despite trailing by two goals at halftime, Sporting KC II continued to press forward. Luis Cruz-Ayala and Beckham Uderitz both tested Minnesota goalkeeper Kayne Rizanovic before halftime but were denied.
After halftime, Opara made changes by bringing on Derksen and Cielo Tschantret. Minnesota extended their lead to three through Kage Romanshyn Jr.'s long-range effort in the 48th minute. Samways responded quickly for SKC II two minutes later, finishing off a cross from Derksen.
Medgy Alexandre nearly reduced the deficit further but was stopped by Rizanovic. On defense, Hal Uderitz made an important tackle inside the box to prevent another Minnesota chance.
Substitutions continued throughout the second half, including Zamir Loyo Reynaga making his second straight appearance and Jack Francka debuting professionally for SKC II.
