Sporting Kansas City is set to play its second-to-last match of the 2025 MLS regular season with an away game against Minnesota United FC on Saturday at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT, with kickoff scheduled for 7:40 p.m.
Fans can watch the Western Conference fixture through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, available in both English and Spanish commentary. Local radio coverage will be provided on 94.5 FM or 1510 AM, and Sporting Pub Network locations—including No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power & Light district—will host viewing events starting at 5:30 p.m., offering food and drink specials for supporters wearing SKC gear.
Since Minnesota joined Major League Soccer in 2017, Sporting Kansas City has faced them more than any other team, holding a record of 12 wins, nine losses, and five draws over 26 matches across all competitions. Their most recent encounter ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw at Children’s Mercy Park after Sporting overcame a three-goal deficit—a first in club history—with goals from Daniel Salloi and Dejan Joveljic among others.
Joveljic remains a key player for Sporting this season; his goal last weekend against LA Galaxy brought his tally to 18 league goals—ranking fourth highest in MLS this year and marking the second-best single-season total by an SKC player. He is also noted as "the first player with back-to-back 18-goal seasons in MLS (regular season and playoffs) with different clubs after he scored 21 goals for the Galaxy in 2024."
Mason Toye assisted Joveljic’s recent goal and is expected to face his former club on Saturday. Toye was originally drafted by Minnesota United as the seventh overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft and contributed seven goals and four assists during his time there from 2018 to 2020.
Sporting enters Saturday’s match having lost four consecutive games—five straight on the road—while Minnesota United currently sits third in the Western Conference standings, two points off first place with two games left before playoffs. This year marks Minnesota’s best regular season performance yet, achieving their highest number of wins (15) and points (52), securing playoff qualification for a sixth time out of seven years as they pursue their first major trophy.
Minnesota is managed by Eric Ramsay. Despite ranking lowest in average possession (41.4%) and passes per game (342) across MLS teams this season, they lead the league with eighteen set-piece goals. Designated Player Kelvin Yeboah leads their scoring chart with nine goals but has missed recent matches due to injury; Joaquin Pereyra tops assists for the team with ten alongside four goals himself.
Defensively, captain Michael Boxall continues as a mainstay for Minnesota United, holding the club record for appearances at 241 matches since joining ahead of their inaugural campaign. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair currently boasts both the highest save percentage (.798) among eligible keepers this season as well as ranking fourth overall for total saves.
In August, Minnesota signed U22 Initiative Player Nectarios Triantis from Sunderland; he quickly made an impact with three goal contributions—including a long-range strike—from his first three appearances.
Beyond Saturday's main event at Allianz Field, Sporting KC youth sides will compete against their Minnesota counterparts throughout Saturday at Blaine’s National Sports Center, while Sporting KC II faces MNUFC2 on Sunday afternoon live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
