The Kansas City Chiefs secured a 37-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, marking their second consecutive win and bringing their season record to an even split.
The Ravens started strong with a touchdown on their opening series, but the Chiefs responded by scoring 20 unanswered points throughout the remainder of the first half. Kansas City’s offense scored on its first four possessions, while its defense limited Baltimore—the league's top-scoring team before this game—to only 10 points across six first-half drives.
A key moment came early in the contest when linebacker Leo Chenal intercepted a pass at the Kansas City 16-yard line, stopping what looked like another promising Ravens drive. Head Coach Andy Reid described it as follows: "[That] was big. I thought it was just all the way around – momentum included – a spectacular play, period – [and] athletic."
Following that turnover, quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs downfield to narrow Baltimore's lead to one point. The next series saw Mahomes connect with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster for a four-yard touchdown pass that gave Kansas City a lead they would not give up for the rest of the game.
From that point forward, Kansas City outscored Baltimore 37-13. The Chiefs’ offense found success on seven of its first eight drives, with Mahomes throwing four touchdowns. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy made a notable return from injury and contributed 121 total yards from scrimmage on seven touches—leading both in receiving and rushing yards for his team.
Mahomes commented on Worthy's impact: "He's just so explosive. You just see it when you get the football in his hands, the defenses have to adjust and when they adjust, he gets so much attention on him, [and] other guys can make plays happen. Just having him out there, not only for his physical ability, but just the morale of the room, I thought it was huge."
On defense, Kansas City held Baltimore to three conversions on ten third-down attempts and forced two turnovers along with three turnovers-on-downs. The result was Baltimore’s lowest point total this season.
Coach Reid credited Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s strategy: "I thought right from the get-go, after that first drive, we just put our foot down," Reid said. "[Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo] had a nice plan there."
With this win and a loss by division rival Los Angeles Chargers earlier in the day to New York (https://www.nfl.com/games/chargers-at-jets-2025-reg-4), Kansas City is now one game behind in the AFC West standings as Week 5 approaches.
Coach Reid also reported no injuries for his squad following Sunday’s game.
The Chiefs will next face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars during Monday Night Football as they look for their third straight win.
