Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jack Kortkamp has been selected for the United States U-17 Men’s National Team training camp, which will take place from October 6 to 10 at McCurry Park in Fayetteville, Georgia. This camp is the final preparation before head coach Gonzalo Segares chooses his squad for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.

The roster includes 24 players born after January 1, 2008, all eligible for this year’s tournament. The United States will compete in Group I against Burkina Faso on November 5, Tajikistan on November 8, and Czechia on November 11. After the camp concludes, Segares is expected to announce his final selections in mid-October.

Kortkamp joined Sporting KC as a Homegrown Player last December and became Major League Soccer’s youngest active goalkeeper. He played three preseason matches in January before joining the national team for the Concacaf U-17 Qualifiers earlier this year. The U.S. team won all their qualifying matches to secure a spot at the upcoming World Cup.

During the current cycle, Kortkamp has attended three previous U-17 camps and participated in international tournaments such as the Vaclav Jezek Tournament in Czech Republic last September. He also trained with fellow Sporting KC homegrown defender Ian James during a stint in Florida two months later.

Originally from Oakville, Canada and raised in Maple Grove, Minnesota, Kortkamp began representing the United States at age fifteen during a training camp at Compass Minerals National Performance Center—the main facility used by Sporting Kansas City—in October 2022. His debut for the U.S. U-15 team came with starts against England and Japan during friendlies held in Spain.

In April of this year, Kortkamp was called up to the U.S. U-16 Men’s National Team for a Florida training camp alongside James; both returned to play friendlies against Argentina during a trip to Buenos Aires one month later.

Kortkamp progressed through Sporting KC Academy teams from under-14 through under-19 between 2021 and 2024. In May of this year he signed an amateur contract with Sporting KC II and made his debut soon after—accumulating three MLS NEXT Pro starts including a win over LAFC 2 at home during the season finale. So far this season he leads Sporting KC II with forty-six saves across twelve starts.
