Governor Mike Kehoe has authorized the Missouri National Guard to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with administrative, clerical, and logistical tasks at ICE processing facilities in Missouri. The move follows a request from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to the Department of War for additional support to help enforce immigration laws and maintain control of the border.

Starting October 1, 2025, Missouri National Guard members will begin providing services such as data entry, case management, and logistical assistance. This support is intended to allow ICE personnel to focus on their primary enforcement and security responsibilities. Participation by National Guard members in this mission is voluntary.

“Public safety, keeping Missourians safe, and upholding the rule of law is our administration's top priority,” Governor Kehoe said. “The Missouri National Guard is uniquely equipped to provide this essential administrative support, and we are confident their contributions will be invaluable to immigration enforcement efforts. Missouri is proud to join in the Trump administration's efforts to keep our state and nation secure.”

On July 25, 2025, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth approved Title 32 duty status for military personnel supporting ICE facilities. This status allows federal funding while keeping service members under the governor’s authority. The Missouri National Guard often works with local, state, and federal agencies in roles that support community safety and security.

Guard members are authorized for this mission through September 30, 2026.
