Sporting Kansas City II has signed Zamir Loyo Reynaga, a midfielder from the Sporting Kansas City Academy, to an MLS NEXT Pro amateur contract. The signing comes ahead of the team's home finale against Ventura County FC on Sunday at Children's Mercy Victory Field.

The amateur contract is valid for a single game and allows Loyo Reynaga to maintain his NCAA eligibility. He will be available for selection in Sunday's match, which starts at 12 p.m. CT.

Loyo Reynaga began playing with the Sporting KC Academy in December 2023, joining the U-14 squad at the Cronos Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico. Since then, he contributed to the U-14 team's victory at the 2024 Easter International Cup in Orlando and their second-place finish at Patterson Cup that same year. During the 2024-25 MLS NEXT season, he played with the U-16s and participated in both the 2025 GA Cup and MLS NEXT FLEX tournaments before moving up to play with the U-15s for the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. Earlier this month, Loyo Reynaga was called up to attend a domestic training camp with the U-15 Boys’ National Team and has also competed with the U-18s during regular season play.

Interim head coach Ike Opara commented on Sunday's upcoming match: "Interim head coach Ike Opara and SKC II will host Ventura County FC Sunday at Children's Mercy Victory Field in their final home match of the campaign. Tickets are on sale at SeatGeek.com, and the match will air live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV."

Sporting Kansas City II confirmed: "Transactions: Sporting Kansas City II signs Zamir Loyo Reynaga to MLS NEXT Pro amateur contract."
