Children’s Mercy Kansas City has been recognized with a gold-level distinction in the American Medical Association’s 2025 Joy in Medicine program. The program, announced on September 3, honors hospitals, health systems, and medical groups that demonstrate a commitment to physician well-being by addressing factors that contribute to work-related burnout.

According to the AMA, “The Joy in Medicine program recognizes healthcare organizations for their commitment to supporting physician well-being by reducing ‘system-level drivers of work-related burnout.’” Organizations are awarded at three levels—gold, silver, and bronze—with recognition valid for two years.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is among 109 organizations nationwide that earned this recognition for 2025-2026. Other gold-level recipients include Advocate Health in Charlotte, North Carolina; Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; and Stanford Medicine in California.
