Kansas City Chiefs announce initial 53-man roster for upcoming NFL season

The Kansas City Chiefs have reduced their roster to 53 players ahead of the upcoming NFL season. The team announced the list on Tuesday, noting that further changes could still occur in the coming days.

At quarterback, Patrick Mahomes and Gardner Minshew are listed. Running backs include Kareem Hunt, Elijah Mitchell, Isiah Pacheco, and Brashard Smith.

The wide receiver group consists of Hollywood Brown, Jason Brownlee, Nikko Remigio, Rashee Rice, Jalen Royals, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, and Xavier Worthy.

Tight ends on the roster are Noah Gray, Travis Kelce, and Jared Wiley. The offensive line features Mike Caliendo, Creed Humphrey, Jaylon Moore, Wanya Morris, Hunter Nourzad, Jawaan Taylor, Josh Simmons, Trey Smith, and Kingsley Suamataia.

Defensive linemen include Mike Danna, Ashton Gillotte, Malik Herring, Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Derrick Nnadi, Omarr Norman-Lott, Charles Omenihu, and Jerry Tillery.

Linebackers named are Jeffrey Bassa, Nick Bolton, Leo Chenal, Jack Cochrane, Cooper McDonald and Drue Tranquill. Defensive backs are Chamarri Conner; Bryan Cook; Kristian Fulton; Jaden Hicks; Trent McDuffie; Chris Roland-Wallace; Jaylen Watson; Joshua Williams; and Nohl Williams.

Special teams will be handled by Matt Araiza (punter), Harrison Butker (kicker), and James Winchester (long snapper).

The Chiefs emphasized that while this is their first official 53-man roster for the season opener—as per league requirements—adjustments may still be made as teams across the NFL continue to finalize their squads in advance of Week 1.
