The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their regular season with an international game against the Los Angeles Chargers. This matchup, set for Week 1 of the NFL season, will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, at Arena Corinthians. It marks the first time the Chiefs play a regular-season game in Brazil.

This contest is the fourth time Kansas City has played a regular-season game outside the United States. Including preseason games, it is their eighth international appearance and their fifth country visited for NFL action. Previous destinations include Japan (preseason only), Germany, England, and Mexico.

The Chiefs are seeking their fourth win in a regular-season game held abroad. On November 1, 2015, they defeated Detroit 45-10 at Wembley Stadium in London. Five years later, on November 18, 2019, they won a close match against the Chargers 24-17 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City—a game originally scheduled to be played against the Rams a year earlier.

Most recently, on November 5, 2023, Kansas City beat Miami 21-14 at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany. If they secure a victory this Friday in São Paulo, the Chiefs would become the first team to win regular-season games in four different countries outside the United States.

The rivalry between these AFC West teams continues as they meet for the 131st time. The Chiefs lead the series with 71 wins to the Chargers' 58 victories and one tie dating back to September 26, 1965.

The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, September 5 at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo. Fans can watch live on the official NFL YouTube channel or through Game Pass International on DAZN.
