The Kansas City Chiefs made several roster changes on Monday, including placing defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury. This move ends his season.

Anudike-Uzomah, who was entering his third year in the NFL, sustained the injury during last Saturday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

In response, the Chiefs signed defensive end Owen Carney and linebacker Xander Mueller. The team also released rookie running back Elijah Young.

Carney, a former standout at the University of Illinois, returns to Kansas City after spending part of last summer’s training camp with the team. At 26 years old, Carney is still seeking his first regular-season appearance as a professional after initially signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

Mueller joins the Chiefs following a five-year career at Northwestern University. During his college tenure, he recorded 273 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and nine quarterback sacks across 46 games.

Both Carney and Mueller will have a chance to compete for roster spots as the Chiefs wrap up their preseason schedule on Friday night.
