A man from Chicago has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly transporting 3.5 kilograms of methamphetamine through Kansas City on a train traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago.

Josue Sabillon, 40, faces a single count indictment for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. This indictment replaces an earlier federal criminal complaint filed on September 8, 2025.

According to the affidavit supporting the original complaint, Sabillon was a passenger on the train bound for Chicago on September 5, 2025. Law enforcement officers reported that a narcotics-detection canine alerted to a duffle bag carried by Sabillon. A search of the bag led officers to discover approximately 3.567 kilograms of methamphetamine and identification papers linked to Sabillon.

Authorities emphasized that "the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Siegele is prosecuting the case. The investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration, Kansas City Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, which coordinates resources from various Department of Justice initiatives including Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). The operation aims to address illegal immigration issues and combat transnational criminal organizations as part of efforts to protect communities from violent crime.
