A Columbia, Missouri man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly possessing a firearm following a prior felony conviction.

According to the indictment, Semaj Reshod Clark, 25, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment states that on August 10, 2025, Clark was found with a Taurus G3 9mm handgun in Boone County, Missouri. Federal law prohibits individuals with prior felony convictions from possessing firearms.

Authorities emphasize that the charges in this indictment are accusations and not evidence of guilt. "The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren E. Kummerer is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Columbia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America. According to information released with the indictment: "This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."
