Sporting Kansas City will play against Orlando City SC at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday, August 16. The match is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM CT and will be broadcast through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

This game marks the first meeting between Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City SC since 2019. Both teams have undergone significant changes in their rosters and lineups over the past six years.

Orlando currently leads Major League Soccer in goals scored. Much of this offensive output is led by Martín Ojeda, who has scored 14 goals, making him the team's top scorer. Ojeda also ranks second in the league for assists with 13 and total goal contributions with 27. The Argentine player has contributed to goals in 11 consecutive matches. On defense, Orlando relies on veteran goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, who has played a key role in limiting opponents' scoring.

Sporting Kansas City returns to action after a 2-0 home loss to San Diego FC, the Western Conference leader, last weekend. That match saw the debut of central defender Alan Montes as a late substitute. Montes, aged 24, joined Sporting KC on loan after playing 119 games for LIGA MX clubs Necaxa and Monterrey.

In their previous match, Sporting Kansas City tried a new formation by lining up in a 4-4-2 system. This tactical adjustment was effective in limiting San Diego's usual attacking style. The pairing of Dejan Joveljić and Santiago Muñoz up front added energy to the team.
