The Kansas City Chiefs held their 10th training camp practice on Saturday morning as the team continued preparations for the upcoming NFL season. The session featured several notable moments and updates from both established players and newcomers.
A portion of the practice was livestreamed during the third "Training Camp Live" show of the summer. The broadcast included a look at on-field drills, discussion about offensive tackle depth, and an appearance by preseason play-by-play announcer Ari Wolfe. The team plans to host one more live show on August 5.
Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson made two significant plays during practice. Johnson, who is in his second year back after a season-ending ACL injury in 2023, broke up a pass during 11-on-11 drills with tight coverage and a well-timed swat. He also disrupted a deep pass in a 7-on-7 period, excelling in single coverage situations.
The Chiefs focused part of their practice on "goal-to-go" scenarios near the end zone. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with wide receiver Rashee Rice for a touchdown and then found JuJu Smith-Schuster in the back of the end zone on consecutive plays. The offense later worked through situations starting deep in its own territory.
Several young receivers stood out during Saturday’s drills. Rookie Jalen Royals caught attention with a contested catch over the middle during an 11-on-11 period. Hal Presley, recently signed on July 21, made a leaping catch between two defenders downfield. Rookie Mac Dalena finished practice with a strong deep catch in the final snap of 7-on-7 drills.
The team's injury report listed linebacker Drue Tranquill (back), tight end Jared Wiley, wide receiver Hollywood Brown (ankle), cornerback Kristian Fulton (knee), tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring), safety Deon Bush (hamstring), and wide receiver Skyy Moore (hamstring) as unavailable for Saturday’s session.
The Chiefs are scheduled to return to practice Sunday for their 11th session of training camp.
