The Kansas City Chiefs held their eighth training camp practice on Wednesday morning as they continue preparations for the upcoming NFL season. The session was a lighter "10-10-10" format, following three consecutive padded practices earlier in the week.

A "10-10-10" practice is designed to give each phase of the team—offense, defense, and special teams—a chance to focus on specific areas and experience successful plays. During these sessions, each unit rotates through 10 plays apiece, with the first-team offense typically facing off against lower units on defense.

Head Coach Andy Reid used the first offensive period to emphasize deep passing. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed nine out of ten passes during this segment, connecting multiple times with tight ends Travis Kelce and Noah Gray, as well as wide receivers Tyquan Thornton, Jason Brownlee, Jimmy Holiday, and Nikko Remigio.

On defense, safeties Bryan Cook and Jaden Hicks both recorded interceptions in the initial defensive period. Cook made a diving catch while Hicks secured his interception near the sideline after a deflection. Safety Mike Edwards added another interception during the second defensive segment.

Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo focused on red zone scenarios during the final defensive period of practice. Cornerback Jaylen Watson broke up a short pass and defensive end Ashton Gillotte disrupted a play at the line of scrimmage.

Spagnuolo commented on his expectations for how players respond after rest: "What will be really interesting to me is that we had the three hard days, today was a 10-10-10, and then we get the day off," Spagnuolo said. "The tough day to come back is the next one after you've had the day off, so if we can ramp it up on that day, I'll be pretty happy."

Several players missed Wednesday’s practice due to injuries. Absent were wide receivers Hollywood Brown (ankle), Xavier Worthy (concussion protocol), Skyy Moore (hamstring); cornerbacks Kristian Fulton (knee), Darius Rush (hamstring), Eric Scott (knee); offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee); linebacker Jeffrey Bassa (ankle); tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring); and safety Deon Bush (hamstring).

The Chiefs are scheduled for an off day Thursday before resuming training camp Friday with their ninth session.
