Sporting Kansas City II secured a 3-2 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Thursday night at Swangard Stadium, marking their second consecutive victory. The team overcame a two-goal deficit at halftime by scoring three unanswered goals in the second half.

Maouloune Goumballe scored early in the second half, while Medgy Alexandre added two goals to help Sporting KC II claim six points from two road matches. Head coach Istvan Urbanyi kept the same starting lineup that earned a win against LAFC 2 earlier in the week.

Vancouver took an early lead with Daniel Russo scoring in the seventh minute and Antoine Coupland adding another before halftime. Sporting KC II goalkeeper Jacob Molinaro made several key saves to keep his team within reach as they entered the break down by two goals.

After halftime, Urbanyi substituted Johann Ortiz and Blaine Mabie into the match. Goumballe reduced the deficit after capitalizing on a defensive error, scoring one-on-one against Vancouver’s Isaac Francoeur. Alexandre then equalized following a corner kick from Ortiz and later converted a penalty to give Sporting KC II their first lead of the night.

Goumballe nearly extended the lead but was fouled inside the box, resulting in another penalty for SKC II. This time, Francoeur saved Alexandre’s attempt. In the closing minutes, Molinaro made crucial saves to preserve Sporting KC II’s advantage as they held off Vancouver’s late attacks.

Following this road trip, Sporting Kansas City II will return home to face Austin FC II at Children’s Mercy Victory Field on Sunday. Tickets are available for $10 through SeatGeek.com, and fans can watch live coverage on MLSNEXTPro.com.

The match featured yellow cards for both teams and was officiated by referee Nivin Raizada with assistants Theo Diederichsen and Nolasco Encina.
