The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their upcoming training camp in St. Joseph, with a focus on evaluating their offensive line. The team currently has 15 players in this position group, which includes both offensive tackles and interior linemen.

Among the offensive tackles, Jawaan Taylor returns as the starting right tackle after playing 19 games last season. Jaylon Moore and Josh Simmons are competing for the starting left tackle role. Moore, a major offseason acquisition from the San Francisco 49ers, made a strong impression when filling in for injured Trent Williams last year. Simmons, drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, is recovering from a knee injury but is showing promise during team drills.

Head Coach Andy Reid commented on Simmons' progress: "He's doing a nice job... you can definitely see the talent."

Other notable players include Ethan Driskell, an undrafted free agent who appeared in two games last season; Chukwuebuka Godrick, who joined through the NFL International Player Pathway Program; and Wanya Morris, who started several games at left tackle last year.

In terms of interior linemen, Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey return as starters at right guard and center respectively. Mike Caliendo and Kingsley Suamataia are vying for the starting left guard position. Suamataia has experience at left tackle but showed potential at guard late last season.

Coach Reid praised Suamataia's performance: "He seems to be picking it up well."

The Chiefs have traditionally kept nine or ten offensive linemen on their roster for Week 1. This year's selection will likely include returning starters Smith, Humphrey, and Taylor; contenders Moore and Simmons; as well as versatile players like Morris and Hunter Nourzad.

With padded practices set to begin soon in St. Joseph, the competition among these players will intensify as they vie for spots on the final roster.
