Sporting returns to their home ground after a comeback victory against Charlotte FC earlier this week. They were trailing by one goal going into stoppage time but managed to equalize in the 93rd minute with a goal from Mason Toye, assisted by Manu García. Just three minutes later, Dejan Joveljić scored the winning goal after receiving a pass from Santi Muñoz.
Currently sitting in twelfth place in the Western Conference standings with 19 points, Sporting is inching closer to playoff contention. Joveljić leads the team with 11 goals and two assists and is also competing for the MLS Golden Boot.
Manu García remains an essential player for Sporting due to his creativity and vision on the field.
The history between Sporting and Real Salt Lake is marked by intense matches. Now both teams enter a new chapter with former Sporting players Russell and Agada contributing to RSL's offense.
