A Kansas City man and woman have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to drug trafficking. Marcellus W. Anderson, 31, and Tyra K. M. McGee, 37, face accusations in a 14-count indictment for their involvement in distributing fentanyl and its analogue from December 1, 2023, to June 11, 2025.
The indictment also charges Anderson with three counts of cocaine distribution, one count of methamphetamine distribution, five counts of fentanyl distribution, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
An affidavit supporting the original complaint details that Anderson sold various drugs to an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on multiple occasions. During one transaction involving fentanyl and its analogue where McGee participated as well, Anderson was reportedly armed with a Glock pistol for protection.
Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition. Anderson has a prior felony conviction for receiving stolen firearms.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings is prosecuting the case following investigations by several agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration; Kansas City Police Department; and Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling criminal organizations impacting communities across the nation.
