The Kansas City Chiefs concluded the voluntary portion of their offseason training program, wrapping up three weeks of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at their facility. This marks the end of "Phase 3" of the offseason training, which includes significant drills such as 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 offensive versus defensive exercises.

Head Coach Andy Reid expressed satisfaction with the turnout and progress made by the players. "It's been a good turnout. The guys are working hard," Reid said. He particularly noted the efforts of younger players, stating, "I appreciate the improvement that they're making, especially the young guys who are pushing through these things."

Over three weeks, the Chiefs completed ten practices under "Phase 3" rules on a voluntary basis. However, next week's minicamp will be mandatory for all players.

During Thursday's practice, which was open to media members, several highlights were observed:

A new addition to the team was tight end Kevin Foelsch, signed this week after spending most of last season on the Eagles' practice squad. In a corresponding move, defensive tackle Siaki Ika was waived.

Coach Reid designated Thursday as "Raiders Day," focusing on play installations designed specifically for facing Las Vegas.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice caught five passes during drills, while cornerback Nazeeh Johnson intercepted a pass despite wearing paddles on his hands for technique purposes.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a strong performance in passing drills. During one team period, he completed nine consecutive passes to various receivers including Rice and tight end Noah Gray.

Mahomes also executed notable plays in red zone drills and connected with multiple targets for touchdowns within a timed drill session.

Defensive plays included George Karlaftis swatting a pass at scrimmage and Omarr Norman-Lott tipping another pass into an incompletion. Brandon George intercepted a pass over the middle during team drills.

Several other defensive players recorded pass breakups throughout different periods of practice.

Kicker Harrison Butker successfully made nine out of eleven field goal attempts during special teams work.

Special teams also focused on punt return operations during this session.
