Sporting Kansas City's Special Olympics Unified Team is gearing up for their upcoming match against Real Salt Lake's Unified Team on June 28, 2025. As part of their preparations, the team engaged in a scrimmage against Sporting's Front Office Team on June 16 at Compass Minerals Sporting Fields.

The Front Office Team, consisting of staff from various departments such as marketing and youth development, played energetically. The game consisted of two 30-minute halves with hydration breaks due to the summer heat. This scrimmage also allowed the Unified Team to practice their pregame procession under head coach Phil Gomez.

The match was competitive, with the Front Office Team scoring first. However, the Unified Team quickly responded, leading to an exciting exchange of goals. Makhai Ezell was notable for his multiple goals and constant pressure on the opposition's defense. Antonio Romero demonstrated his skills by playing as goalkeeper in the first half and later scoring in the second half.

After an intense 60 minutes, both teams ended in a 6-6 draw. The game concluded with handshakes and mutual respect between players.

The Unified Team will have one more training session before their match on June 28 at Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Park. Fans are encouraged to support them during this two-game series.
