Governor Mike Kehoe has announced that Halle Herbert will become the new Policy Director in his office, starting on Tuesday, June 24. This appointment follows the departure of Jamie Birch, who is leaving to pursue opportunities at Missouri State University.

“From day one, Halle has hit the ground running, bringing energy, discipline, and insight to every challenge,” Governor Kehoe stated. “Halle has worked hard to lead some of our most important priorities in public safety policy and bring key initiatives across the finish line. She has a sharp policy mind, is highly capable, and our team is proud to see her step into this leadership role.”

Herbert expressed her gratitude for the opportunity: “It is an honor to serve in the Kehoe Administration, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to step into this position,” she said. “Jamie has laid a foundation for a strong policy team, and I am especially thankful for the way she has helped prepare me for this new role.”

Since joining the Missouri Governor's Office in January 2025 as Senior Policy Advisor, Herbert has provided leadership on issues related to public safety departments including DPS, DOC, and MONG. Her work included spearheading multi-phase public safety initiatives like the Safer Missouri initiative aimed at supporting law enforcement and reducing crime.

Before her current role, Herbert was legislative director for DPS where she represented it before the Missouri General Assembly and acted as a liaison with the Governor’s Office. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Missouri State University.
