Three individuals from Kansas City, Missouri, have been charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. Kajuan M. Jackson, 40, Christopher D. Baird, 40, and Skyler B. Sledd, 26, were named in a criminal complaint filed under seal on May 28 in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City. The complaint was made public following their arrests and initial court appearances.

According to the complaint, the accused sold tablets labeled "M30," containing fentanyl, to an undercover investigator between June 1, 2024, and May 22, 2025. Sledd is currently under state felony supervision for possession of a controlled substance.

Jackson faces additional charges related to firearms possession during a drug trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of firearms. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition. Jackson has prior felony convictions including identity theft and various drug-related offenses.

The charges are accusations at this stage; evidence must be presented to a federal trial jury to determine guilt or innocence. Conspiracy to distribute fentanyl carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years up to 40 years without parole under federal statutes. Possession of machineguns in furtherance of drug trafficking carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years without parole.

Sentencing will be determined by the court after considering advisory guidelines and other factors following a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan A. Baker and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings are prosecuting the case which was investigated by several agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

This prosecution is part of the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Co-located Strike Forces Initiative aimed at combating organized crime through multi-agency collaboration.
