Bishop Johnston has announced a series of clergy assignments effective from March 1, 2025, to September 1, 2025. These assignments involve various parishes and clergy members within the diocese.
Starting on March 1, Deacon Juan Rodriguez will serve both St. John Francis Regis Parish in Kansas City and St. James Parish in Liberty. Following this, on April 1, Deacon Shane Voyles will begin his assignment at St. Mary Parish in Independence.
On April 16, Rev. Joseph Sharbel concludes his role as Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish in Lee’s Summit and takes a leave from active ministry.
Effective May 15, Deacon Tyrone Gutierrez is assigned to St. Thomas More Parish in Kansas City. Two days later, Mr. Dan Stump will assist at Nativity of Our Lady Parish in Independence and St. Bernadette Parish in Kansas City after his ordination to the transitional diaconate.
From May 27 onwards, Rev. Justin Hoye begins a sabbatical until August 15 while Rev. Paul Sappington assumes temporary leadership at St. Thomas More Parish until July 1 while retaining other chaplaincy roles.
July marks several new appointments: Rev. Matthew Bartulica becomes Chaplain at Missouri Western State University; Rev. Jonathan Davis continues his pastoral duties with an additional parish; and Rev. William Fox takes charge of multiple parishes including Sacred Heart Mission.
Other notable changes include Rev. Adam Haake's new responsibilities at Jeanne Jugan Center and continued service at existing locations; Rev. Garrett King becoming Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe; and various other reassignments involving pastoral roles across the region.
As of July 12, adjustments occur for clergy like Rev. Alex Kreidler who steps down from his position at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish with future plans pending release.
By August 1, further transitions include Rev. Benjamin Armentrout's new administrative role along with responsibilities on the Marriage Tribunal and others like Rev Stephen Hansen taking up assistant chaplaincy duties.
The final announcement involves Rev Thomas Hawkins' retirement on September 1 as he steps down from leading St Mary Parish in Higginsville which will be taken over by Rev Justin Hoye who relinquishes certain prior commitments by June end.
